Microsoft 365 setup
Turn on Teams transcript access
Microsoft turned off Graph access to Teams meeting transcripts by default at the end of July 2026. Until an administrator turns it back on, Microsoft blocks transcript access for every app — no matter what permissions the app has been granted. This takes about two minutes and only has to be done once for your whole organisation.
Step 1: Sign in as an administrator
Open admin.microsoft.com in a private browsing window and sign in with the administrator account.
Use a private window so the browser does not silently reuse a different organisation’s session — this is the most common reason the setting below appears to be missing.
Step 2: Open the Teams admin center
Go to admin.teams.microsoft.com. Check that the account shown in the top-right corner is the administrator account for the right organisation.
Step 3: Go to Meetings → Meeting settings
In the left-hand navigation, select Meetings, then Meeting settings.
Step 4: Switch on Microsoft Graph access
Find the Transcript API access section and turn Microsoft Graph access to On.
This single toggle is the whole fix. It permits approved apps to read transcripts; it does not turn on transcription for meetings, and it does not share anything with Microsoft that was not already there.
Step 5: Optional: include speaker attribution
Select Configure, then turn Include speaker attribution to On. This is also off by default.
Without it, transcripts arrive with the words but no speaker names. For matching billable work to a matter, knowing who said what is usually the point.
Step 6: That's it — nothing else to do
You do not need to tell us when you are finished. We re-check daily, so transcript capture starts on its own, usually within a day. Nobody has to reconnect anything.
Prefer PowerShell?
The same change, for administrators who would rather script it:
Set-CsTeamsMeetingConfiguration `
-Identity Global `
-EnableGraphTranscriptAccess $true `
-EnableAttributedTranscripts $trueRun Get-CsTeamsMeetingConfiguration first to see the current values.
If your plan does not include Teams transcription
Then there is nothing to turn on, and nothing you need to do. We will record that transcripts are unavailable for your organisation and stop asking. Meeting attendance is captured either way, so the rest of the Microsoft 365 connection keeps working normally.
